What beauty mistakes are you making?

16 Nov What beauty mistakes are you making?

Let’s face it, we are all human and with so many products and a truck load of different tips and tricks out there we are bound to have a few beauty mishaps! But which common ones are you making and how do you fix them?

Beauty Blunder #1 The dreaded hair removal. We are all guilty of rushing this process when we have a last minute event or date night. But it’s super important for your skin to make sure you use the right products when rushing this job! If you must engage in last minute hair removal with a razor, then please please use a shaving cream. If you don’t have one on hand a quick slick of your conditioner will work just as well. TRY: Gillette Satin Care with a touch of Olay Violet Swirl Shaving Gel RRP $7.99 Available at Priceline.

Beauty Blunder #2 Splotchy fake tan? Now we would love to believe that you all have this method completely handled by now right? Apparently not. The amount of women walking around with splotchy fake tan in those dry areas still amazes us! It’s super simple to avoid this problem.EXFOLIATE! Yep that’s it. Not just with your loofah sponge but a day before you know you will be applying your favourite fake tan rub that body down with an amazing body scrub. TRY: LUSH Ocean Salt Face & Body Scrub RRP $22.95 Available in LUSH stores & online.

Beauty Blunder #3 How exactly are you cleansing your face? Are you cleansing, toning, moisturising, exfoliating, buffing and polishing? The good news is you don’t need to participate in all of these actions. The better news is – you can skip that toner! If they are alcohol based. Alcohol based toners disrupt the normal skin pH and produce dryness and inflammation. And yes you guessed it – this also leads to the ageing of the skin. So go ahead and ditch that harsh toner! TRY: Ultraceuticals Ultra Balancing Gel Cleanser. RRP $52 Available online.

Beauty Blunder #4 OK we are pretty much all extremely guilty of this one. Falling asleep with your makeup on. But did you know why it is a very big beauty no no to hit the hay with a face full of the day’s foundation? The skin’s most important function is to renew itself and this process is a little trickier with all of that makeup still on. So next time you are feeling a bit lazy, remember that foundation you have been wearing all day is doing a fabulous job of ageing your skin too! For us lazies – TRY: Neutrogena Makeup Removing Night Calming Cleansing Towelettes RRP $7.99 Available at Priceline.

Beauty Blunder #5 Honestly – how long ago did you clean your makeup brushes? Those trustworthy tools are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, In turn leading to skin irritations, breakouts and premature ageing. Give those brushes a spring clean at least once a month and after each use give them a quick and easy cleansing spritz. TRY: BYS Daily Brush Cleaner RRP $8.95 Available online.

Beauty Blunder #6 Are you applying mascara to your lower lashes? STOP! Applying mascara to your lower lashes will make your eyes look smaller and darker. Not only that but it’s the best way to smudge your mascara and enhance those dreaded dark circles. TRY: Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. Still our number one mascara at bare beauty HQ! RRP $12.95 Available at Priceline.

Beauty Blunder #7 Ever wondered why your concealer just doesn’t cover up what you want it to? Are you applying it under your foundation? Then this is unfortunately where you are going wrong. Applying concealer under our foundation ultimately thins out the product out and you have pretty much just wasted your time and your product. Opt for dabbing on your concealer onto those troubled areas after you have applied your foundation. TRY: Too Faced Born This Way Concealer RRP $40 Available at MECCA.

Beauty Blunder #8 Are you still applying tat eyeliner to your tear duct area? You know, that slimy area inside your eye. Another big beauty no no. Why? well you will cause all sorts of bacterial carry-on to your eyeliner pencil and it will also make your eyeliner more prone to smudging throughout the day. The result: not so healthy, smudged black eyes. No one wants that. When applying eyeliner, stick to lining just under the bottom lashes – or on top of them. Stay away from that inner eye. TRY: Natio Long Lasting Eyeliner. RRP $14.95 Available at Priceline.

Beauty Blunder #9 Ever been in that situation where you put on your favourite red lippy only to rip and spit half of it off 10 minutes later? Nothing irritates us more than flakey dry lips and nothing looks more terrible! Take an extra few minutes before applying your lippy to exfoliate the lip area and apply a trustworthy lip balm. TRY: LUSH Lip Scrub in Sugar Plum Fairy RRP $9.95 Available in LUSH stores & online.

Beauty Blunder #10 How many eyeshadow colours do you really need on those lids at one time? We say stick to one or two. Three as an absolute maximum if you know how to highlight correctly. No need to overdo it. TRY: BYS Nude3 Eyeshadow Palette RRP $16.95 Available online.
